Magnificent! Methodically enjoying my way through these wonderfully crafted books, which I have only recently discovered. This is my favorite so far, but will forge on with great anticipation. Thank you.

I have started to read this Gamache series from its beginning. This Brutal Telling is very poetic with its suspense and underlying story. Very interesting history brought in! Still can’t believe the end! I will continue reading this series as I know the characters from Three Pines return in future books. I really enjoyed The Brutal Telling!

Her best yet. So descriptively rich, as per her usual genius of storytelling. Yet this one highlights a more profound level of our best and tragic human qualities. Surprise and joy intermingle with such depth. Great plot, beautifully told.

Generally like the stories and the information about Emily Carr, etc interesting. But the story left me a little cold. Won’t spoil it but I didn’t like a main character as the murderer. Kept expecting the real killer to be uncovered until I shockingly read “The End”. Disappointing.

Interesting at first to capture your attention but boring for a while. Irrelevant Parts should have been edited out. I wanted to try something new from my norm and tried this mystery novel. Ending was disappointing.

Together with Penny,s first Gamache book this the best of the series. The depth of the personalities, the descriptions of the loves and fears, and of the countryside are more haunting and beautiful than ever. And the solution to the crime is so simple yet so complicated.
  • better and better
