The book started off as a good read but half way through it just went downhill- it read more like a teen/young adult book. The Glass Castle is a much better book

For someone who appreciates good quick reads, this book is a must. Walls' writing style is simple and pure pleasure to read. The story is thrilling, unexpected, and well thought. Loved it!

I started this book a couple times - just didn't get hooked - till this time! Easy fast read - like watching a movie. Love that bright & brave little Bean. I know her Daddy would surely be proud of her! Loved it!

I always love Jeanette's writing capabilities. She never disappoints. I wish this book would have been longer, I wanted to know so much more. It was a very good read.

I literally couldn't put this book down and read it in a day. I enjoyed the other two books as well but this book is really a page turner and such a great story.

I absolutely loved The Glass Castle and Half Broke Horses, so I was very disappointed in this latest book. It appears to be written for pre-teens. Issues are dealt with on a superficial level and the characters are thinly drawn. While I can't recommend The Silver Star, I will eagerly await Jeanette Walls next book. She is a gifted writer and has made a temporary blunder here, I hope.
